Unlock the power of parallel programming in this Friday Afternoon Hacky Hour!
The Parallel Programming series will culminate in a data challenge to apply the skills you have learned! In the challenge, you will apply parallel programming techniques to optimising a computational problem in soil water dynamics.
The Session
The DARE “Friday Afternoon Hacky Hour” sessions are a casual, interactive way to develop computing skills. You will need a laptop, and may need to take a small amount of time beforehand to prepare.
The session will be hybrid, although we recommend joining us in person, if you can, as you’ll likely get more out of it! Pizza will be provided following the challenge, so please indicate any dietary requirements when you reserve your place.
Recommended prior knowledge includes: Docker and C++, Python, R (or closely commensurate languages).
Previous Sessions
This is the final part of a series of four sessions on Parallel Programming. Although the four sessions complement each other, you are welcome to attend a single session.
DARE SEMINAR SERIES – Fortnightly on Tuesdays
Join DARE’s Seminar Series to hear from experts about applications of statistical and data science methods to DARE’s core domains – water, minerals and biodiversity. Our Seminars run every fortnight on Tuesdays and you can find the program for 2023 here.
