Unlock the power of parallel programming in this Friday Afternoon Hacky Hour focusing on Message Passing!
The Message Passing session will introduce parallel programming for distributed memory environments. Key topics such as data transfer, process synchronisation, blocking vs non-blocking communication, collective operations and barriers will be covered. The material will arm you with the skills for adapting your own computing projects, to cluster or other high performance computing platforms.
The DARE “Friday Afternoon Hacky Hour” sessions are a casual, interactive way to develop computing skills. You will need a laptop, and may need to take a small amount of time beforehand to prepare.
The session will be hybrid, although we recommend joining us in person, if you can, as you’ll likely get more out of it! Snacks will be provided.
Recommended prior knowledge includes: Docker and C++, Python, R (or closely commensurate languages).
This is part one of a series of four sessions on Parallel Programming. Although the four sessions complement each other, you are welcome to attend a single session.
